CNPHA - 14TH ANNUAL JR JACKPOT SHOW RESULTS - 2011

Competition was intense at the 14th Annual CNPHA Jr. Jackpot Show, held November 20, 2011, at the historic Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, CA. Close to 50 head of cattle were shown by youngsters in this highly popular event, judged by Jim Dismukes, Elk Grove, CA.

As always, the quality of the cattle shown was remarkable. Gauge Butler took home the top prize, exhibiting the Champion Heifer, and picking up $250, sponsored by Genoa Livestock, Bob & Carol Coker, Minden, NV. Mitchell Bianchi got the nod for the Reserve Champion Heifer, winning $150, sponsored by Weimer Cattle Co., Tom & Cindy Weimer, Susanville, CA.

The coveted Grand Champion Steer award went to Alexa Peterson who took home $150, sponsored by Art & Caroline Whitney, Whitney Meadows. The Reserve Champion Steer award was snagged by Clarissa Castaneda, earning her $75 and sponsored by Hank & Cathie Gibbons, Amina Acres, Lincoln, CA.

One of the most unique features of this Jr. Jackpot Show is the reward kids are paid if they buy a heifer or steer in the Hereford Classic Sale on Saturday, and show that animal in the Jackpot the next day. Just for entering the Jackpot, kids win an automatic $50 regardless of where they stand in class.

If the cattle they purchased hit it big in the Jackpot, the rewards are even bigger. Mitchell Bianchi is one youngster who knows all about that. He won the “High Placing Sale Heifer” $500 award. With all his winning’s added up, Mitchell took home a handsome paycheck totaling almost $1,000. Winning “2nd Highest Placing Sale Heifer” for $300 was Shelly Radonich, and the “3rd Highest Placing Sale Heifer” for $200 was awarded to J.D. Fullmer.
